1993 Japanese Warner Music promotional poster for “Unplugged”
Original first printing Neil Young promotional poster issued by Warner Music in Japan in 1993 to promote the release of the Unplugged album – a live album recorded on 15th June, 1993 at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. Produced by David Briggs and originally released in June 1993 on Reprise Records, the album was an installment of the MTV series. The recording of Unplugged was reportedly rife with tension, with Young displeased with the performances of many of his band members. The released version was his second attempt at recording a set suitable for airing and release. The album peaked at #23 on the Billboard 200, and stayed on the charts for 18 weeks. It was certified Gold in November 1993 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales exceeding 500,000 copies in the US alone. In the UK the album reached #4 and was certified Gold by the BPI (British Phonographic Industry) for sales exceeding 100,000 copies. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
The poster measures 51.2 x 72.7 cm (approx. 20.2″ by 28.6″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, dull-coated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
