1976 Japanese MCA/Victor promotional poster

Original first printing Wishbone Ash promotional poster issued by MCA/Victor Records in Japan in 1976, presumably to promote the release of the New England album – the band’s seventh studio album, produced by Ron and Howard Albert, and originally released in October 1976 on MCA Records in Europe and Atlantic Records in the US. Wishbone Ash toured Japan during October 1976, kicking off with three consecutive shows at Tokyo’s Sun Plaza Hall. The album marked the so-called “Americanization” of Wishbone Ash, as the band relocated from England to the Northeastern United States for tax purposes, hence the title “New England”.  The album was a success compared to their previous album, Locked In, released in March that same year. New England peaked at #154 on the Billboard 200, and reached #22 on the UK Album Chart. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.

The poster measures 51.3 x 72.5 cm (approx. 20.2″ by 28.5″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. There is a small diagonal crease to the top right corner, else in excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
