1978 Japanese Odeon Records/Toshiba EMI promotional poster for “London Town”
Large original first printing Wings promotional poster issued by Odeon Records/Toshiba EMI in Japan in 1978, presumably to promote the release of the London Town album – the band’s sixth studio album, produced by Paul McCartney, and originally released on 31st March, 1978 on Parlaphone in the UK and Capitol Records in the US. Containing the hit single “With a Little Luck”, the album reached #2 on the Billboard 200, and stayed on the chart for 28 weeks (10 weeks in the top 10). It was certified Platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) in March 1978 for sales exceeding 1,000,000 copies in the US alone. In the UK, the album peaked #4 on the UK Album Chart and was certified Gold by the BPI for sales exceeding 100,000 copies. The poster features an uncredited photo of McCartney at the piano by Lynn Goldsmith. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
The poster measures 83.6 x 59.4 cm (approx. 32.9″ by 23.4″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition.
