1976 Japanese Capitol Records/Toshiba EMI promotional poster for “Wings at the Speed of Sound”

Large original first printing Wings promotional poster issued by Capitol Records/Toshiba EMI in Japan in 1976, presumably to promote the release of the Wings at the Speed of Sound album – the band’s fifth studio album, produced by Paul McCartney, and originally released in March 1976 on Capitol Records. Issued at the height of the band’s popularity, it reached the top spot on the US album chart —t he band’s fourth consecutive album to do so—and peaked at #2 on the UK Album Chart. Both singles from the album, “Silly Love Songs” and “Let ‘Em In”,  also reached the top 5 of the UK and US singles charts, with “Silly Love Songs” reaching #1 in the US. The poster features an uncredited photo by David Montgomery from a photo session on 4th April, 1976. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.

The poster measures 82.2 x 56.3 cm (approx. 32.4″ by 22.2″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. There is a closed rip to the center of the right side border, else in remarkably near excellent unfolded condition with minimal surface handling wear. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
