1972 Japanese London Stereophonic/King Records promotional poster for “Exile on Main St.”

Original first printing Rolling Stones promotional poster issued by London Stereophonic/King Records in Japan in 1972 to promote the release of Exile on Main St. – their tenth studio album, produced by Jimmy Miller, and originally released in May 1972 on Rolling Stones Records. Containing the singles “Tumbling Dice” and “Happy”, the album was a huge success and went to #1 on the Billboard 200. It stayed on the chart for 57 weeks and was certified Platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) in May 2000 for sales exceeding 1,000,000 copies in the US alone. In the UK, the album also went straight to #1 and was certified Platinum by the BPI  for sales exceeding 300,000 copies. Exile on Main St. has been ranked on various lists as one of the greatest albums of all time. The poster features a striking photo of group in Los Angeles 1972 by South African photographer and filmmaker Norman Seeff. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.

The poster measures 72.5 x 51.3 cm (approx. 28.5″ by 20.2″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, dull-coated paper stock. Light sporadic edge wear, else in remarkably near excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
