1990 Japanese Rolling Stones Records/CBS/Sony Records promotional poster for “Steel Wheels”

Original first printing Rolling Stones promotional poster issued by Rolling Stones Records/CBS/Sony Records in Japan in 1990 to promote the release of the Steel Wheels album as well as the band’s Japanese tour during February 1990 – a tour that consisted of 10 concerts at the Tokyo Dome. Produced by the Glimmer Twins along with Chris Kimsey, the album was originally released on 29th August, 1989 on Rolling Stones Records. Containing the hit singles “Mixed Emotions” and “Rock and a Hard Place”, the album was a huge commercial success. It reached #3 on the Billboard 200, and stayed on the chart for 36 weeks (13 weeks in the top 10). It was certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) in January 1990 for sales exceeding 2,000,000 copies in the US. In the UK, the album reached #2 on the UK Album Chart and was certified Gold by the BPI (British Recorded Music Industry) in November 1989 for sales exceeding 100,000 copies. The poster features a striking photo of Keith Richards credited to Mikio Ariga, with the artist’s imprint to the bottom left corner. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.

The poster measures 51.1 x 72.6 cm (approx. 20.1″ by 28.6″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. Minimal sporadic edge wear, else in  excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
