Early 1970s Japanese Apple Records promo poster
Large original first printing The Beatles promotional poster issued by Apple Records in Japan in the early 1970s. Apple Records was manufactured in Japan by Toshiba Musical Industries. Toshiba Musical Industries, the publisher of EMI in Japan (Toshiba EMI), divided classical music into “Angel Records” and popular music into “Odeon Records” in January 1963. The poster features an uncredited photo by Carl Gunther of the group hanging out by a barn door on 19th September, 1964, when Brian Epstein celebrated his 30th birthday with the Beatles at Reed Pigman’s ranch in Alton, Missouri, during their famous 1964 American tour, before their last concert in New York. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
The poster measures 59.0 x 84.1 cm (approx. 23.2″ by 33.1″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. In remarkably near excellent unfolded condition.
