May 1972 Japanese concert tour program
Large original concert program lavishly produced for British rock groups Ten Years After and Procol Harum’s joint May 1972 Japanese tour, presented by Udo Artists, Inc. The brief 3-date tour commenced at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo on 4th May, and ended at the Festival Hall in Osaka on 7th May, 1972. Billed locally under Udo Music’s package banner as “Rock Explosion ’72”, this brief co-headlining trek brought two contrasting yet complementary styles of British rock – frenetic blues rock and orchestral progressive rock – to Japanese audiences. Because joint tours of major Western rock bands were still relatively rare in Japan at the time, the arrival of both groups sparked significant media coverage. The tour was an enormous success, so much so that Ten Years After immediately booked a return trip to Japan the following year for a solo five-date tour in 1973.
In original illustrated dull-coated wrappers, staple bound, 25.8 x 36.3 cm, 48 pp. All text in Japanese. In excellent complete condition, tightly bound and clean.
