1973 Japanese Columbia Records promotional poster for “Atem”
Large original first printing Tangerine Dream promotional poster issued by Columbia Records in Japan in 1973 to promote the release of Atem – the band’s fourth studio album, produced by Froese, Franke and Baumann, and originally released in March 1973 on Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser’s Ohr label. Described as Tangerine Dream’s “transitional” album, Atem marked the end of the band’s seminal “Pink Years” period, with future albums adopting a more structured (and commercially viable) sound. Legendary British DJ, John Peel, was a big fan of Atem, so much so it became his album of the year 1973, and this might be the reason TD got a contract with the London-based Virgin Records for their next album, Phaedra (1974). The poster was promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
The poster measures 59.2 x 83.5 cm (approx. 23.3″ by 32.9″ inches) and is beautifully printed on medium-thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. Neatly folded thrice with a pin hole to each corner.
