October/November 1971 UK concert tour flyer
Original first printing concert flyer advertising British rock group T. Rex’s October/November 1971 nationwide tour of Great Britain,in support of Electric Warrior — the group’s second studio album (their sixth if including the group’s earlier incarnation as Tyrannosaurus Rex), produced by Tony Visconti and released on 24th September, 1971. The album marked a turning point in the band’s sound, dispensing with the folk-oriented music of the group’s previous albums and pioneering a flamboyant, pop-friendly take on electric rock and roll known as glam rock. Electric Warrior reached number 1 on the UK charts and became the best selling album of 1971. Presented by John & Tony Smith in association with E. G. Management, the 15-date tour kicked off at the Guildhall in Portsmouth on 19th October and ended at the ABC Cinema in Wigan on 10th November, 1971.
The flyer measures 26.5 x 17.8 cm (approx. 10.4″ by 7″ inches) and is beautifully printed in maroon ink on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the flyer available on request.
