1984 Japanese Virgin Records/Victor promotional poster for “Brilliant Trees”
Original first printing David Sylvian (1958) promotional poster issued by Virgin Records/Victor in Japan in 1984 to promote the release of the Brilliant Trees album – Sylvian’s debut solo studio album, produced by Sylvian with Steve Nye, and originally released on 25th June, 1984 on Virgin Records. Containing the singles “Red Guitar”, “The Ink in the Well”, and “Pulling Punches”, the album reached #4 on the UK Album Chart and was certified Gold by the BPI (British Phonographic Industry) for sales exceeding 100,000 copies in the UK. Former Japan members Steve Jansen and Richard Barbieri both appear on the album. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
The poster measures 51.2 x 72.7 cm (approx. 20.2″ by 28.6″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock.
