Ulm + Saarbrücken August/September 1978 concert poster
Original first printing concert poster advertising the “Summertime Open Air Festival” staged at the Friedrichsau Festplatz in Ulm and Ludwigsparkstadion in Sarbrücken on 26th August and 3rd September, 1978, respectively. Presented by Lippmann+Rau, performing artists included Genesis, John McLaughlin, Alvin Lee’s Ten Years Later, and Joan Baez. For Genesis the shows were part of the second leg of their 1978 European tour in support of … And Then There Were Three … – the band’s ninth studio album, but their first as a trio, following the departure of Steve Hackett. Recorded at Relight Studios in Hilvarenbeek under the guidance of producer David Hentschel, who had previously worked with both George Harrison and Elton John, the album was released on 23rd March, 1978. Featuring the hit single “Follow You Follow Me”, the album was a commercial success, reaching #3 on the UK album chart.
The poster measures 59.8 x 83.8 cm (approx. 23.5″ by 33″ inches) and is beautifully printed in green and black inks on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition.
