Théatre des Champs-Élysées, Paris October 1960 concert poster

Original  vintage first printing concert poster advertising “Soirée de Jazz” at the Théatre des Champs-Élysées in Paris [France] on Friday, 14th October, 1960, presented by Larry Douglas. The concert was in memory of the double bassist and composer Oscar Pettiford, who had tragically died on 8th September, 1960 from a virus closely related to polio. The event was held as a benefit for Pettiford’s children. Performing artists included pianist Bud Powell, saxophonists Stan Getz, Lucky Thompson, and Don Byas, drummers Kenny Clarke and Daniel Humair, double bassist Pierre Michelot, pianist René Urtreger, harmonica player Toots Thielemans, and others.

The poster measures 40.0 x 58.3 cm (approx. 15.7″ by 23″ inches) and is beautifully printed in dark blue ink on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition.
