Early 1960s French Fontana promo poster (signed)

Large original first printing Memphis Slim (1915–1988) promotional poster issued in France by Fontana in the early 1960s. Striking design from a photo by Lee Hallyday. The poster has been authentically signed by Memphis Slim right below the large red M in Slim. It reads: “Best Wishes From Memphis Slim”. Memphis Slim died on 24th February, 1988, of renal failure in Paris, France, at the age of 72.  In 1989, he was posthumously inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame.

The poster measures 76.7 x 119.6 cm and is beautifully printed in red and black inks on thin, uncoated paper stock. Folded as issued with light wear along the fold lines. Pieces of acid free archival tape has been used on the back to reinforce some of the fold lines. Additional photos available on request.
