1972 Japanese CBS/Sony Records promotional poster for “Greatest Hits”
Large original first printing Simon & Garfunkel promotional poster issued by CBS/Sony Records in Japan in 1972 to promote the release of the Greatest Hits album – the duo’s first compilation album, produced by Roy Halee and originally released on 14th June, 1972 on Columbia Records. The album peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200 and #2 on the UK Album Chart. It has proven a long and durable seller, currently being certified for 14 million units sold in the U.S. alone. It is easily their best-selling album in the U.S., and holds the record in the U.S. for the best-selling album by a duo. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
