March/April 1972 Japanese concert tour program

Large original vintage concert program lavishly produced for Sergio Mendes & Brasil ’77’s March/April 1972 Japanese tour, presented by Kyodo Tokyo. The massive 22-date tour commenced with two consecutive shows at the Festival Hall in Osaka on 28th & 29th March and ended at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo on 28th April, 1972. The tour captured the Brazilian maestro at a massive peak of popularity in Japan. Having achieved a good level of fame in Japan during the late 1960s, Mendes used the 1972 run to transition into a much deeper, rhythmically complex musical era. The tour occurred right after Mendes famously updated the group’s moniker from Brasil ’66 to Brasil ’77. He brought his newly structured lineup to promote their landmark 1972 studio album, Primal Roots.

In original illustrated coated wrappers, staple bound, 25.5 x 36.5 cm, 32 pp. All text in Japanese. Minimal wear to spine and extremities, else in excellent complete condition, tightly bound and clean.
