Coventry Theatre, Coventry September 1968 concert flyer

Original first printing concert flyer advertising American jazz drummer and bandleader Buddy Rich’s two performances at the Coventry Theatre in Coventry [England] on Sunday, 29th September, 1968, presented by Harold Davison by arrangement with Derek Boulton and Eric Delaney. The shows in Coventry were part of Rich’s nationwide tour of Great Britain during September and October, commencing at the Colston Hall in Bristol on 24th September and ending at the Hammersmith Odeon in London on 6th October, 1968. This was actually Rich’s second visit to Great Britain that year, having toured extensively with singer Tony Bennett in the Spring. The orchestra for the European tour featured Ernie Watts, Charles Owens, Don Menza, Pat LaBarbera, and Frank Capi (saxophones); John LaBarbera, Russ Iverson, and Al Patacca (trumpets); James Trimble, Bill Stover, and Paul Keen (trombones); Russ Turner (piano); Jimmy Gannon (bass); and Walter Namath III (guitar).

The flyer measures 15.7 x 23.0 cm and is printed in purple and blue inks on thin, matte-coated paper stock. Complete with the original postal booking form still intact. There is a soft diagonal crease to the top left corner, else in near excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the flyer available on request.
