November 1970 German tour blank concert poster (Günther Kieser)

Original first printing concert poster designed to promote Oscar Peterson’s November 1970 nationwide tour of Germany, presented by Norman Granz in cooperation with Lippmann+Rau. For the European tour bassist Sam Jones and drummer Bobby Durham were replaced by George “Jiri” Mraz and Ray Price, respectively. With this new group, Peterson had recorded the album Walking the Line. Recorded at MPS-Studios in Villingen, Germany and produced by Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer, the album captures Peterson in fiery form. His mastery of the ballad form is heard in his sensitive interpretation of “Once Upon a Summertime”, which also showcases Mraz’s gorgeous tone. The poster features striking artwork by noted German graphic designer Günther Kieser.

The poster measures 83.7 x 59.8 cm and is printed on thin, uncoated paper stock. Light foxing to the top right corner, else in near excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
