Volksbildungsheim, Frankfurt April 1978 concert poster

Original first printing vintage concert poster advertising Graham Parker & The Rumour at the Volksbildungsheim in Frankfurt [Germany] on Thursday, 13th April, 1978, presented by Rainer Hänsel in cooperation with Lippmann+Rau, and with American US country rock band Clover as special guests. The band was touring Germany in support of the Stick to Me album, their third studio album, recorded at Eden Studios in London and produced by Nick Lowe, and released in October 1977. Generally ranked below the band’s first two albums, Howlin’ Wind and Heat Treatment, the album suffered from an undeniable shortcoming in the sound since the original recording was ruined, and all the songs needed to be re-recorded within a week. Looking back, Parker said it wasn’t what he wanted at the time, but that he actually likes it today for that intense, grungy sound, a sound, he added, people are trying to get nowadays. The album peaked at #125 on the Billboard 200.

The poster measures 59.0 x 83.7 cm (approx. 23.2″ by 33″ inches) and is beautifully printed in red, blue and black inks on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. Folded horizontally at the middle, else in remarkably near excellent condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
