January 1974 Japanese concert tour program
Large original vintage concert program lavishly produced for The Moody Blues’ January 1974 Japanese tour, presented by Udo Artists, Inc. The short 5-date tour commenced at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo on 18th January and ended with two consecutive shows at the Welfare Pension Hall in Osaka on 22nd & 23rd January, 1974. The tour marked the final leg of their world tour before a five-year hiatus. Burnt out from relentless traveling and experiencing creative exhaustion, the band members parted ways shortly after these dates to pursue solo projects, not touring together again until October 1978. The performances pulled heavily from their classic “core seven” albums, blending high-energy rock with their signature orchestral and Mellotron-heavy textures. The tour featured the classic lineup of Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Mike Pinder, Ray Thomas, and Graeme Edge. It was one of the very last times keyboardist and Mellotron pioneer Mike Pinder performed live with the band, as he chose to step away from the grueling lifestyle of the road during the subsequent hiatus.
In original illustrated dull-coated wrappers, staple bound, 25.5 x 36.3 cm, 36 pp. All text in Japanese. In excellent complete condition, tightly bound and clean.
