Sun Plaza Hall, Tokyo March 1997 concert poster
Original first printing concert poster advertising the Michael Schenker Group at the Sun Plaza Hall in Tokyo [Japan] on Thursday, 20th March, 1997, presented by Seijiru Udo’s UDO Artists Inc. The show in Tokyo was part of the group’s Japanese tour during March in support of the Written in the Sand album – the eighth full-length studio album recorded by the various M.S.G. line-ups, the first group effort after the McAuley Schenker era. Produced by Ron Nevison, the album was originally released on 28th August, 1996 on the Positive Energy Records label. Re-energized by the short-lived reunion with UFO and by the recording of Walk on Water, Michael Schenker collected yet another group of players, composed of Leif Sundin on vocals, Shane Gaalaas on drums, and Barry Sparks on bass. The poster also advertises two sold out concerts at the Shibuya Public Hall (5th March) and the Sun Plaza Hall (19th March). The Sun Plaza Hall show on 19th March was recorded and later released as The Michael Schenker Story Live through Schenker’s own record company.
The poster measures 51.3 x 72.6 cm (approx. 20.2″ by 28.6″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin coated paper stock. Minimal sporadic handling wear, else in excellent unfolded condition.
