Shiba ABC Hall, Tokyo June 1988 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising American jazz singer Helen Merrill (1929) at the Shiba ABC Hall in Tokyo [Japan] on Thursday, 9th and Friday, 10th June, 1988, presented byAll Art Promotion. Accompanied by pianist Gil Goldstein, bassist Steve LaSpina, and drummer Terry Clarke, Merrill was touring in support of the Collaboration album – a 1987 studio album arranged by Gil Evans. With the almost identical repertoire of recorded songs and following Evans’ original scores, the album is a celebratory re-recording of their previous collaboration from 30 years ago for Merrill’s album Dream of You, released in 1957, also on the EmArcy label. Like Dream of You, Collaboration was recorded on three consecutive recording sessions each with a different line-up, one with woodwinds and trombone for most songs, featuring soprano saxophonist Steve Lacy on two tracks, one session with brass, and another with a string section and woodwind.

The poster measures 51.3 x 72.7 cm (approx. 20.2″ by 28.6″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. Very light edge wear to the upper right side border, else in excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
