Hemmerlein Sporthalle, Neunkirchen January 1977 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising British rock group Manfred Mann’s Earth Band at the Hemmerlein Sporthalle in Neunkirchen [Germany] on Sunday, 23rd January, 1977, presented by MAMA Concerts, and with Racing Cars as special guests. The concert in Neunkirchen was part of the Earth Band’s early 1977 European tour in support of The Roaring Silence, their seventh studio album, produced by the band themselves and released on 27th August, 1976, on Bronze Records. Like other Earth Band albums, The Roaring Silence included material by other composers. “Blinded by the Light”, which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, is a cover version of a song by Bruce Springsteen; “Questions” is based on the main theme of Franz Schubert’s Impromptu in G flat Major; “Starbird” takes its theme from Igor Stravinsky’s ballet The Firebird; and “The Road to Babylon” is based on the canon “By the Waters of Babylon” by Philip Hayes. The album marked the arrival of vocalist/guitarist Chris Hamlet Thompson, and Dave Flett, who replaced longtime guitarist/vocalist/composer Mick Rogers. It was also the last album recorded with founding member Colin Pattenden.

The poster measures 83.7 x 59.2 cm (approx. 33″ by 23.3″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In near excellent unfolded condition with a tiny crease to the top left corner. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
