Kongresshaus, Zürich May 1988 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising Canadian singer-songwriter and poet Leonard Cohen’s two performances at the Kongresshaus in Zürich [Switzerland] on 15th and 16th May, 1988, presented by Good News. The Zürich concerts were part of Cohen’s extensive European tour in support of the I’m Your Man album, commencing at the Rheingoldhalle in Mainz on 5th April and ending at the Roskilde Festival in Roskilde on 2nd July, 1988. The band for the tour featured madolinist and oudist John Bilezikjian, bassist and trumpeter Steve Zirkel, keyboard player and violinist Bob Furgo, keyboard player Tom McMorran, drummer Steve Meador, and guitarist Bob Metzger, as well as backing singers Perla Batalla and Julie Christensen. I’m Your Man was recorded in Los Angeles and Montreal and employed four producers: Roscoe Beck, Jean-Michel Reusser, Michel Robidoux, and Cohen himself. It was released on 2nd February, 1988 by Columbia Records. The album marked Cohen’s further move to a more modern sound, with many songs having a synth-oriented production. It soon became the most successful album which Cohen had released in the US, and it reached number one in several European countries, transforming Cohen into a best-selling artist.

The poster measures 29.8 x 69.7 cm and is printed on thin, uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
