Hamburg: Rowohlt Verlag, Fall 1959. Uncorrected proof copy of the first German edition of On the Road, translated by Georg Binzer and Werner Burkhardt. Published in the Fall of 1959, the German edition of On the Road is among the earliest of Kerouac’s foreign editions.
Crown octavo (8vo), 12.5 x 19.9 cm, 304 pp. In original green vellum-finish uncoated wrappers printed in black on front and spine. Wrappers and spine are faded and inside pages, printed on white ground wood pulp paper, yellowed by time. Additional images of the book available on request.
