Originally published by Grove Press in 1958, The Subterraneans is a semi-fictional account of the author’s short romance with a black woman named Alene Lee (Mardou Fox) in San Francisco, 1953.

Crown octavo (8vo), 136 pp. In original pictorial matte-coated wrappers, perfect bound. Wrappers are slightly rubbed with light wear to spine and extremities, else near fine, tightly bound and clean. Additional photos available on request.
