Kongresshaus, Zürich March 1978 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising American progressive rock group Kansas at the Kongresshaus in Zürich [Switzerland] on Wednesday, 22nd March, 1978, presented by Good News, and with American rock group Cheap Trick as special guests. The Zürich show (the only concert in Switzerland on the tour) was part of Kansas’ first European tour during March in support of the Point of Know Return album – their fifth studio album, produced by Jeff Glixman, and originally released on Don Kirshner’s Kirshner label in October 1977. Containing the singles “Point of Know Return”, “Dust in the Wind”, and “Portrait (He Knew)”, the album was a huge commercial success. It reached #4 on the Billboard 200, and stayed on the chart for 51 weeks (13 weeks in the top 10). It was certified 4x Platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) in May 1995 for sales exceeding 4,000,000 copies in the US. The album was reissued in remastered format on CD in 2002. Support act Cheap Trick, who were also in Europe for the first time, had just released their third studio album, Heaven Tonight. Twelve months later they were touring Europe again, but this time as headliners.

The poster measures 30.8 x 70.6 cm (approx. 12.1″ by 27.8″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated (coated on front only) paper stock. Neatly folded twice horizontally, else in excellent unmarked condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
