Description

Mid-1970s Swedish personality poster (Bruun & Persson)

Original first printing Janis Joplin (1943–1970) art poster issued in Sweden in the mid-1970s, presumably. The artist is anonymous, but the poster was evidently issued by Bruun & Persson and printed by Normal Trykkeriet. Noted for her powerful mezzo-soprano vocals and her “electric” stage presence, Joplin was one of the most iconic and successful rock performers of her era. She died of a heroin overdose on 4th October, 1970, at the age of 27. Joplin released three albums (two with Big Brother and the Holding Company and one solo album). A second solo album, Pearl, was released in January 1971, three months after her death.

The poster measures 39.2 x 70.0 cm (approx. 15.4″ by 27.6″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin coated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
