Grosse Freiheit, Hamburg November 2001 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising American jazz pianist, keyboardist, bandleader, and composer Herbie Hancock at the Grosse Freiheit in Hamburg [Germany] on Thursday, 29th November, 2001, presented by Karsten Jahnke. The concert in Hamburg was part of Hancock’s European tour during November in support of the Future 2 Future album, accompanied by drummer Terri Lyne Carrington, trumpeter Wallace Roney, keyboardist/synthesist Darell Diaz, and bassist Matt Garrison. Produced by Hancock and Bill Laswell, the album was released in July 2001 by Transparent Records – a label Hancock created in the late 1990s with Chuck Mitchell (one time president of Verve Records) and David Passick (Hancock’s manager). Hancock and Laswell had worked together on Future Shock (1983), Sound-System (1984), and Perfect Machine (1988), and with Future 2 Future they tried to repeat the success of the three previous albums that combine jazz with electronic music.

The poster measures 59.1 x 83.9 cm (approx. 23.3″ by 33″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. Tiny closed rip to the upper left side border, else in excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
