Yubin Chokin Kaikan, Tokyo October 1982 concert poster
Original first printing concert poster advertising the “Giants of Jazz” at the Yubin Chokin Kaikan in Tokyo [Japan] on Tuesday, 5th October, 1982, featuring saxophonist Zoot Sims, trumpeter Harry “Sweets” Edison, drummer Shelly Manne, double-bassist Chuck Domanico, and pianist Mike Woffard. Less than three years after this concert only Edison, Woffard and Domanico remained. Shelly Manne died on 26th September, 1984, and Sims on 23rd March, 1985. Sims had recorded the Just Friends album with Harry Edison in 1978 (Pablo, 1980) and The Swinger with Shelly Manne in 1979/80 (Pablo, 1981).
The poster measures 51.4 x 72.7 cm (approx. 20.2″ x 28.6″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. Very light sporadic edge wear, else in near excellent unfolded condition.
