Town Hall, Leeds October 1970 concert flyer

Original first printing concert flyer advertising British folk rock band Fairport Convention at the Town Hall in Leeds [England] on Wednesday, 14th October, 1970, in support of Full House — the band’s fifth studio album, produced by Joe Boyd and released in July 1970 on Island Records. It was their first album without a female vocalist, as Sandy Denny had left to form Fotheringay. Founding member bassist Ashley Hutchings had also left for Steeleye Span, and multi-instrumentalist Dave Pegg had joined on bass. As their previous album, Liege & Lief, had reinterpreted a number of traditional folk tunes, so did Full House. Many were sewn into two medleys, “Dirty Linen” and “Flatback Caper”. The album also featured the nine-minute track “Sloth”, which remained part of the group’s live set for many years and has been described as “haunting, moody, dazzling”. Special guests on the UK tour were Roger Ruskin Spear and His Kinetic Wardrobe. Spear had previous been with Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band.

The flyer measures 17.0 x 24.1 cm (approx. 6.7″ by 9.5″ inches) and is beautifully printed in red and black inks on thin, coated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the flyer available on request.
