July 1948 UK concert tour program
Original vintage concert program for American composer, pianist and big band leader Duke Ellington’s July 1948 tour of Great Britain. Presented by Harold Fielding, the temporary inactivity of Ellington’s big band enabled him to tour Europe in the Summer of 1948 with only Ray Nance and singer Kay Davis accompanied by the Jack Fallon Rhythm Trio. Duke Ellington returned to Europe with his full orchestra in May 1950.
