1983 Japanese Toshiba EMI promotional poster for “Seven and the Ragged Tiger”
Original first printing Duran Duran promotional poster issued by Toshiba EMI in Japan in 1983 to promote the release of the Seven and the Ragged Tiger album – the band’s third studio album, produced by Alex Sadkin, and originally released on 21st November, 1983 on EMI in the United Kingdom and Capitol Records in the USA. Containing the singles “Union of the Snake”, “New Moon on Monday”, and “The Reflex”, the album peaked at #8 on the Billboard 200 and stayed on the chart for 63 weeks (14 weeks in the top 10). It was certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) in November 1991 for sales exceeding 2,000,000 copies in the US. In the UK, the album reached at #1 and stayed on the UK Album Chart for 47 weeks. It was certified Platinum by the BPI (British Phonographic Industry) in November 1983 for sales exceeding 300,000 copies in the United Kingdom alone. To support the album, Duran Duran toured Japan during January 1984. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
The poster measures 72.8 x 51.5 cm (approx. 28.7″ by 20.3″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. Light sporadic edge wear, else in near excellent unfolded condition.
