1980 Japanese Warner-Pioneer Corporation promo poster for “One Step Closer”
Large original first printing Doobie Brothers promotional poster issued by Warner-Pioneer Corporation in Japan in 1980 to promote the release of the One Step Closer album – the band’s ninth studio album, produced by Ted Templeman, and originally released on 17th September, 1980 on Warner Bros. Records. It was the band’s last studio album with Michael McDonald in the lineup until Southbound (2014), and also the first studio album to feature John McFee as a member of the band. Containing the hit single “Real Love”, the album reached #3 on the Billboard 200 in October 1980 and stayed 28 weeks on the charts (7 weeks in the Top 10). It was certified Platinum in November 1980 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales exceeding one million copies in the US alone. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
