Description
Early 1970s Japanese Toshiba EMI promotional poster
Large original first printing Miles Davis (1926–1991) promotional poster issued by Toshiba EMI in Japan in the early 1970s. Back in the 1970s when America’s interest in modern jazz was waning, there remained continued enthusiasm in Japan. Over the following decades, much of the Blue Note catalogue would be reissued in Japan, through licensing agreements with local record manufacturers and distributors. Between 1966 and 1977, Blue Note titles were re-issued by Toshiba EMI. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
The poster measures 83.9 x 59.2 cm (approx. 33″ by 23.3″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. There is a tiny closed rip to the bottom left corner, else in remarkably near excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
