Palais des Beaux-Arts, Brussels March 1960 concert flyer

Original first printing double-sided concert flyer advertising Count Basie and His Orchestra at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels [Belgium] on Sunday, 27th March, 1960, presented by Le Hot Club de Belgique. By the start of the 1960s, Basie was hugely popular in Europe. Fronted by singer Joe Williams, this was around the time of the release of Just the Blues, and the orchestra for the Spring 1960 European tour consisted of Joe Newman, Snooky Young, Thad Jones, George Cohn (trumpets); Benny Powell, Al Grey, Henry Coker (trombones); Frank Wess, Marshall Royal, Billy Mitchell, Frank Foster, Charlie Fowlkes (saxophones); Freddie Green (guitar); Eddie Jones (bass); and Sonny Payne (drums). A couple of concerts from this European tour (Paris and Milan) were recorded and eventually released.

The flyer measures 13.3 x 17.4 cm and is printed in black ink on thin, uncoated yellow card stock. Folded horizontally at the middle with a couple of folder holes to the left side margin. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the flyer available on request.
