Olympiahalle, Munich February 1977 concert poster
Large original first printing concert poster advertising American rock group Chicago at the Olympiahalle in Munich [Germany] on Friday, 18th February, 1977, in support of Chicago X – the band’s eighth studio album, produced by James William Guercio and released on 14th June, 1976. Containing the hit singles “Another Day in New York City” and “If You Leave Me Now”, the album peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200. “If You Leave Me Now” became the band’s first #1 hit in the both US and UK. Chicago X won three Grammy awards; two were for “If You Leave Me Now” and one for John Berg’s trademark artwork, which resembled a Hershey bar. They were also nominated for Album of the Year, but lost to Stevie Wonder’s Songs in the Key of Life.
The poster measures 59.7 x 83.6 cm (approx. 23.5″ by 32.9″ inches) and is beautifully printed in red and black inks on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. There is a one inch closed rip to the bottom left corner which has been neatly repaired by a piece of acid free archival tape, else in near excellent unfolded condition.
