Grand Theatre, Wolverhampton September 1968 concert flyer
Original first printing concert flyer advertising Ray Charles at the Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton [England] on Sunday, 22nd September, 1968, presented by Harold Davison. By this time A Portrait of Ray had just been released on Tangerine Records — a label founded by Ray Charles himself, but promoted and distributed by ABC-Paramount Records. Produced by Joe Adams, A Portrait of Ray featured a soulful rendition of Lennon & McCartney’s “Eleanor Rigby” and reached #51 on the Billboard 200. The Raeletts for the European tour featured Clydie King, Alexandra Brown, Gwendolyn Berry, and Merry Clayton.
The flyer measures 25.4 x 14.8 cm (approx. 10″ by 5.8″ inches) and is beautifully printed in brown and purple inks on thin, coated paper stock. Complete with the original postal booking form still intact. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the flyer available on request.
