Description
Typed Letter, signed (“William Burroughs”), to Dutch writer Gerard van het Reve.
Interesting letter by William Burroughs, dated Sept 27, 1962, to Dutch writer Gerard van het Reve discussing Reve’s new book of short stories, Tien vrolijke verhalen (Ten Happy Stories), with a special mention of The Acrobat, a piece Reve had written in English in 1956 when he lived in London. Reve was one of the first homosexual authors to come out in the Netherlands and is considered one of the “Great Three” of Dutch post-war literature. Interestingly the letter is sent from the famous Beat Hotel in Paris where Burroughs was living at the time.
