Sporthalle, Cologne October 1975 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising the Pablo Jazz Festival staged at the Sporthalle in Cologne [Germany] on Friday, 17th October, 1975, presented by Lippmann+Rau. Performing artists included Ella Fitzgerald accompanied by the Tommy Flanagan Trio, Count Basie, Ray Brown, Louie Bellson, Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis, Roy Eldridge, Dizzy Gillespie, Milt Jackson, Joe Pass, Oscar Peterson, Zoot Sims, and Clark Terry. Pablo Records was a record label founded by Norman Granz in 1973, roughly a decade after he had sold his jazz labels to MGM Records. Pablo initially featured recordings by acts that Granz managed: Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson and Joe Pass. Later, recordings by Count Basie, John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie and Sarah Vaughan were added. In 1987 the label was acquired by Fantasy Records.

The poster measures 59.2 x 83.9 cm and is beautifully printed on thin, light coated paper stock. Very light edge wear to the bottom left side border, else in near excellent unfolded condition. Additional photos available on request.
