December 1978 Japanese concert tour program
Large original vintage program book lavishly produced for David Bowie’s December 1978 Japanese tour, presented by Udo Artists, Inc. The 5-date tour commenced at the Welfare Pension Hall in Osaka on 7th December and ended with two consecutive shows at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo on 11th and 12th December, 1978. The tour served as the grand finale to his massive, 1978-show Isolar II World Tour (frequently referred to as “The Low/Heroes World Tour” or “The Stage Tour”). After sweeping through North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, Bowie brought his incredibly tight, rejuvenated live act to Japan for the very last leg of the global trek. Controlled and directed by rhythm guitarist Carlos Alomar, this lineup is widely considered one of the best Bowie ever toured with. It blended avant-garde musicianship with the precision of his core rhythm section, featuring, besides Alomar, lead guitarist Adrian Below, bassist George Murray, drummer Dennis Davis, violinist Simon House, pianist Sean Mayes, and keyboardist Roger Powell.
In original illustrated coated wrappers, staple bound, 25.8 x 36.3 cm, 36 pp. All text in Japanese. In excellent complete condition, tightly bound and clean.
