Deutsches Museum, Munich October 1965 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising Art Blakey & The New Jazzmen and the Sonny Rollins Trio at the Deutsches Museum in Munich [Germany] on Thursday, 28th October, 1965, presented by Ralf Schulte-Bahrenberg and Ado Schlier. Art Blakey had many versions of his Jazz Messengers, but for this European tour he assembled a short-term quintet without using that band name. The quintet featured saxophonist Nathan Davis, trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, pianist Jaki Byard, and bassist Reggie Workman. The concert at the Palais de la Mutualite in Paris was recorded and has since been released on DVD as Live in ’65. Sonny Rollins was touring Europe presumably accompanied by Danish double bassist Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen and American drummer Alan Dawson (famous as Tony Williams’ teacher).

The poster measures 83.9 x 59.8 cm (approx. 33″ by 23.5″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. There is a tiny rip to the lower right side border, else in excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
