1972 “Now Express” personality poster (Douglas Kirkland)

Large original first printing Brigitte Bardot (1934) personality poster issued by Now Express in 1972. Although she withdrew from the entertainment industry in 1973, Bardot remains a major pop culture icon. She has acted in 47 films, performed in several musicals, and recorded more than 60 songs. She was awarded the Legion of Honour in 1985. She was the subject of philosopher Simone de Beauvoir’s 1959 essay The Lolita Syndrome, which described her as a “locomotive of women’s history” and built upon existentialist themes to declare her the most liberated woman of France. The poster features a photo of Bardot credited to Douglas Kirkland, with his imprint to the bottom right corner. Now Express was just one of many poster production and printing companies that sprung up in the late 1960s/early 1970s to meet a near insatiable demand for posters.

The poster measures 60.8 x 85.4 cm (approx. 23.9″ by 33.6″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
