Ernst Merck Halle, Hamburg December 1962 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising English jazz trombonist and bandleader Chris Barber (1930–2021) at the Ernst Merck Halle in Hamburg [Germany] on Saturday, 1st December, 1962, accompanied by American clarinetist Edmond Hall (1901–1967), and presented by Hamburg impressario Hans-Werner Funke. Barber’s band for the tour featured trumpeter Pat Halcox, clarinetist Ian Wheeler, banjo player Eddie Smith, bassist Dick Smith, drummer Graham Burbidge, and singer Ottilie Patterson. Some of the concerts on this tour were recorded and later released as part of The Best of Both Worlds album. The poster features artwork that was originally used for Barber’s May 1960 German tour.

The poster measures 59.3 x 83.7 cm and is printed in red and black inks on thin, uncoated paper stock. Printer’s imprint (Hub. Hoch, Düsseldorf) to the bottom right corner.
