Odeon Theatre, Southend April 1962 concert flyer
Original first printing concert flyer advertising jazz giant Louis Armstrong’s two performances at the Odeon in Southend [England] on Monday, 30th April, 1962, presented by William Victor Productions by arrangement with Harold Davison. The shows in Southend were part of Armstrong’s April/May 1962 British tour, his third nation-wide tour of Great Britain, accompanied by an All-Star ensemble that featured trombonist Trummy Young, clarinetist Joe Darensbourg, pianist Billy Kyle, double-bassist Billy Cronk, drummer Danny Barcelona, and singer Jewel Brown. Support act on the entire British tour were Gerry Brown’s Jazzmen, a traditional jazz band from the Bournemouth area.
The flyer measures 17.6 x 22.9 cm and is beautifully printed in yellow, blue and black inks on thin, coated paper stock. Complete with the original postal booking form still intact.
