1978 European A&M Records/CBS promotional poster for “To the Limit”
Original first printing Joan Armatrading (1950) promotional poster issued by Arista Records/CBS for the European market in 1978 to promote the release of the To the Limit album – her fifth studio album, produced by Glyn Johns (third and final studio collaboration with Johns), and originally released on 29th September, 1978 on A&M Records. Containing the singles “Bottom to the Top” and “Barefoot and Pregnant”, the album peaked at #125 on the Billboard 200 and stayed on the chart for 12 weeks. In the UK, the album peaked at #13 and stayed on the UK Album Chart for 10 weeks. Robert Christgau (Xgau) gave the album a B+ rating. Armatrading did not tour following the album’s release, the first time she had not done so. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
The poster measures 39.9 x 59.8 cm (approx. 15.7″ by 23.5″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock.
