1979 Japanese Elektra/Warner-Pioneer Corporation promo poster for “Candy-O”

Large original first printing The Cars promotional poster issued by Elektra/Warner-Pioneer in Japan in 1979 to promote the release of the Candy-O album – the band’s only second studio album, produced by Roy Thomas Baker, and originally released on 2nd June, 1979 on Elektra Records. Containing the hit singles “Let’s Go” and “It’s All I Can Do”, the album was a huge commercial hit and reached #3 on the Billboard 200 and stayed 62 weeks on the charts. It was certified 4x Platinum in November 2001 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales exceeding four million copies in the US. For what it’s worth, Candy-O was ranked #82 on Billboards “Top Albums of the Year” chart for 1979. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.

The poster measures 59.3 x 83.9 cm (approx. 23.3″ by 33″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
