1971 Japanese CTI Records promo poster for “Gilberto with Turrentine”
Original first printing Astrud Gilberto (1940–2023) promotional poster issued by CTI Records in Japan in 1971 to promote the release of the Gilberto with Turrentine album – an album that, as the title suggests, also featured American saxophonist Stanley Turrentine. Recorded at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey and produced by Creed Taylor, the album features fine arrangements by pianist Eumir Deodato. Beginning as a singer of bossa nova and American jazz standards, Gilberto started to record her own compositions in the 1970s. She recorded songs in Portuguese, English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, and Japanese. She received the Latin Jazz USA Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1992 and was inducted into the International Latin Music Hall of Fame in 2002. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
The poster measures 51.5 x 72.9 cm (approx. 20.3″ by 28.7″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
