1974 Japanese ABC Impulse!/Columbia Records promo poster for “The Impulse Years”

Original first printing Milt Jackson (1923–1999) promotional poster issued by ABC Impulse!/Columbia Records in 1974 to promote the release of The Impulse Years. The ABC Impulse! catalog was manufactured by Nippon Columbia in Japan. The Impulse Years is an album cut by Jackson during his tenure at Impulse. This included quartet, quintet, sextet, and big band albums recorded between 1962 and 1969, most done in the studio, but two recorded live. They also feature several numbers done with non-Modern Jazz Quartet players, among them bassists Paul Chambers and Ray Brown, as well as pianist Hank Jones. The poster features a photo of Jackson credited to Japanese photographer Mitsuhiro Sugawara, with his imprint (M. Sugawara) to the bottom left corner. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.

The poster measures 51.3 x 72.6 cm (approx. 20.2″ by 28.5″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, glossy paper stock. In remarkably near excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
