Description

April 1971 Japanese concert tour program

Large original vintage program book lavishly produced for the Oscar Peterson Trio’s April 1971 Japanese tour. For the tour bassist Sam Jones and drummer Bobby Durham were replaced by George “Jiri” Mraz and Ray Price, respectively. With this new group, Peterson had recorded the album Walking the Line. Recorded at MPS-Studios in Villingen, Germany and produced by Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer, the album captures Peterson in fiery form. His mastery of the ballad form is heard in his sensitive interpretation of “Once Upon a Summertime”, which also showcases Mraz’s gorgeous tone.

In original pictorial dull-coated wrappers, staple bound, 25.5 x 36.3 cm, 32 pp. All text in Japanese. Light wear to spine and extremities, else in excellent complete condition, tightly bound and clean. Additional images of the program available on request.
